Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15-Oct. 15
Hispanic Heritage month is a time to learn about hispanics that have impacted society. below are a only a few of the people that we studied about. We read about Celia Cruz who was a great singer who's music is known world wide . She is originally from Cuba. Frieda Kahlo was a famous artist along with her husband Diego Rivera. The children did an amazing job capturing their art work and putting their own creativity. We also created timelines and wrote about what we learned about these individuals.
As we continue to learn about holidays, traditions and customs, we also learned about the day of the dead also. It is a holiday celebrated by Hispanics in Latin American cultures/Countries. We will read a book about and we will tie our language art writing component and do a craft and construct an alter in the hallway the way it is done in the Hispanic culture. We will talk about honoring our ancestors and the reason the alter is created. If you have a loved ones that have passed on please talk to your children about that individual.
