Native American Project
Look at these amazing projects that the students made. The students were given an opportunity to do research and construct a Native American Dwelling of their choice. They also made a report and presented it to the class. We displayed them in the classroom and then they share them with the rest of the school with the hallway display. This is the first year we do this project and the children loved it.
We also made rain sticks in class with paper towel tubes or canisters. First, we painted the canisters with Tempera paint. We decorated the tubes with Native American symbols. We crinkle foil very tightly and coiled them inside the tubes. Then, we glued a circular shapes of paper from grocery bags to one end of the tube. The grocery bag circular shape represented leather from the skins of animals. Next, we applied rice and or beans and covered the other end with glue. After it dried, I applied Modge Podge to give it a sheen. The students applied string or yarn and beads. I hot glued the feather so the children would not burn themselves. I left the burning for my fingers.
