Writer's Workshop
Writer's Workshop is an opportunity for each child to become a published author in our classroom. They practice their time going through the writing process. We begin each class with a mini lesson which runs about 10-15 minutes and /or a read aloud some literature based on our focus. The children are exposed to different genres. The mini lessons are focused on specific concepts such as grammar, punctuation, handwriting, etc. This gives us an opportunity to put everything into practice that we have learn. We have an opportunity to share our work with peers and other classes. I encourage the children to think about their writing and organize their work. Students revise, conference, edit, publish and illustrate their work.
We are currently working on Halloween stories. Some children have published their work while other continue to work on their stories. I will post the covers as soon as they are published. Here are a couple of books that have been published. Look at the covers. They are pretty terrific! When the books are all published, we plan on celebrating together at our cocoa club cafe by sharing our stories and drinking hot cocoa. More info to come!
