D.E.A.R. Time
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Time is celebrated at the end of each nine weeks. We celebrate our accomplishments with a time to lounge and promote literacy by reading books during our literacy center time block. The students buddy read or read silently during this time. The students get to lounge around with books and a small stuffed animal. They should bring plenty of books in a bag with their names in their books so they don't get mixed up with other children's books. I have it scheduled for October the 19th. I will post pictures after we the event.
We will also have Peace feast on the same day during special area time. (which is 10-10:45) The students from all 3 first grade classes will go to the gym for fun and games. The students throughout the semester earn peace bucks for good behavior and are rewarded at the end of the semester. The class has to earn 34-38 peace bucks in order to participate. Don't forget you must wear your tennis shoes.
