Science, Technology and Language Arts
Ms. Leu and I will be working with the Support of several parent volunteers to help students learn how to work collectively together. This joint project will help students in so many levels. It will give all students the opportunity to feel successful. It is so much easier to work independently but it takes certain skills to work collaboratively. Having us model to the students how teachers work together is a prime example. It is also harder to teach larger classes. However, this joint effort with parental support will demonstrate some of those skills we are trying to teach the children. Our academic focus was learning technology skills, using different technology equipment, practicing keyboarding, creating a project which will be a powerpoint, bringing in science by taking pictures of our natural environment and writing complete sentences about our pictures. I can't wait for the finished products.
While technology is great and is a part of our 21st century learning . When we have glitches and it can throw things off. We experienced this today but the parents came to the rescue and read to the students the last 15 minutes of the day. Thank you parents!
Here are a few pictures of our endeavor. I will continue to add more pictures as this project continues. Don't forget to check from time to time for updates.

Collaborative Learning
Students are given the opportunity to learn life long skills of learning to work with others. They learn how to take turns, share ideas, and problem solve. This is a life skills that follows us forever. If we can't work with others it makes things very difficult. Students created power points about nature. We talked about how writing is not always used with a pencil. We use other tools for writing and practice our writing skills while becoming familiar with the keyboard. We have some Terrific Parent Volunteers! We couldn't do it without them. I've never taught two classes at a time but things went very smoothly. With the help we had. I can't wait to see the final products. I will keep you posted.
